Plasfy is a graphic design tool developed by Jasper Cyan. It was born from his dissatisfaction with the current options in the market.

Plasfy offers an easy-to-use platform that empowers anyone, regardless of their design background, to create stunning visuals. Whether you’re an entrepreneur needing compelling marketing materials, a social media manager focused on crafting engaging content, or a student preparing a presentation, Plasfy has the tools you need.

It’s designed for both individuals and businesses that want professional-quality graphics without the complexity of traditional design software.

How Jasper Cyan Got the Idea for Plasfy

Cyan, a dedicated solopreneur, handled all the design work for his products himself. He often found himself switching between software options. Some were too basic and stifled his creativity. Others were overly complex and overwhelmed him with too many features.

This experience made him realize something important. There was a need for a design tool that balanced simplicity and functionality. It had to cater to both beginners and experienced designers.

Cyan decided to share his vision with his email list. The list was mostly graphic designers since he sold Photoshop templates. The response was overwhelmingly positive. It was clear many others shared his frustrations.

The excitement from his audience boosted Cyan’s belief in Plasfy’s potential. He knew it could be a game-changer in the design industry.

To validate his idea, Cyan did thorough market research. He conducted surveys and had discussions with fellow designers. He closely analyzed the challenges they faced with current design tools.

The feedback was clear. There was strong demand for a user-friendly and powerful tool, just like Plasfy. Fueled by passion, Cyan found the courage to fully commit to developing Plasfy.

How He Developed Plasfy

The development work started with extensive brainstorming, wireframing, and prototyping sessions. With some background in development and UX/UI, Cyan designed the initial features, user interfaces, and workflows. His goal was to make Plasfy accessible to both beginners and experienced designers.

At first, Cyan had limited experience with user interface design. To overcome this, he dived into YouTube tutorials and practiced hands-on with CSS. He took on the entire design process for Plasfy’s user interface himself. This approach saved him tens of thousands of dollars in outsourcing costs and allowed him to shape the UI exactly as he envisioned.

After about three months, he had an alpha version of the software equipped with its core features. He then worked closely with twenty-five of his most trusted customers, who acted as beta testers in a private Skype group. This testing phase took an additional three months.

Once Cyan perfected Plasfy’s core features, he realized there were aspects he wanted to add but couldn’t develop on his own. Designing thousands of templates was also beyond his capacity.

To address these challenges, he decided to outsource the work to skilled freelancers. He used funds from his previous products and hired talent through platforms like Upwork and Freelancer.

For software development, Cyan collaborated with four experienced developers. He also worked with ten professional graphic designers in India to create templates. This allowed Plasfy users to customize these templates to their needs.

Cyan knew the platform needed a wide variety of templates across different categories, like business, food, and fashion. He provided examples and set minimum requirements for each template. From there, the design team managed the rest.

How He Acquired the First Few Customers

For the launch, Cyan wanted to create excitement and offer an unbeatable deal to his loyal customers. So, he decided to introduce a limited-time lifetime offer for the Plasfy platform.

To get the word out, he used email marketing to reach his highly targeted email list. This list was built over several years from selling graphic design bundles. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

Cyan also followed up with users who had shown interest by opening and clicking on the offer but hadn’t made a purchase yet. He offered them a free trial without requiring a credit card. This strategy worked well, successfully re-engaging many of these users and converting them into paying customers.

Within just one month of the launch, Cyan secured his first 1,000 paying customers. Each of these customers had previously purchased one of his earlier products. Marketing to an existing audience is much easier than trying to reach a new one that hasn’t yet interacted with your brand.

Current Customer Acquisition Strategies

Since Plasfy’s launch, Cyan has implemented various strategies to attract and retain customers.

1. Partnerships: One of his main strategies was forming partnerships with top marketplaces and websites. These collaborations operated on a revenue share model, requiring no upfront investment. He only paid partners when a sale was made, making it a cost-effective approach.

2. Giveaway Promotions: Cyan partnered with SAAS-focused Facebook groups to run engaging giveaway promotions as part of his growth plan. He offered a limited number of Plasfy Professional accounts for free, with the condition that users would try out the platform. This strategy proved highly successful, allowing Plasfy to reach a wider audience and demonstrate its value.

3. Referral Program: Initially, Cyan launched a referral program to encourage existing customers to refer friends and colleagues. He offered a 40% commission for successful referrals.

However, this approach didn’t-didn’t deliver the expected results. It became clear that, although Plasfy users were happy with the platform, they lacked the marketing expertise to effectively promote it.

To address this, Cyan extended the referral opportunity to trusted partners and affiliates with the right marketing skills and networks. This shift proved to be a turning point, as the affiliate program began to perform exceptionally well.
